No-nonsense Collective

No–nononsense Collective is a rock band from Taipei formed by vocalist/guitarist Kuo Li-Wei and vocalist/bassist Hsieh Shuo-Yuan.

The band was founded in 2016. In October 2017, they released their debut EP “Escape the Lock of Time,” which quickly received critical acclaim. The EP earned nominations for Best New Artist, Best Band, and Best Rock Single at the 9th Golden Indie Music Awards (2018), ultimately winning Best Band. Since then, every release by the band has been nominated at the Golden Indie Music Awards. They were also nominated for Best Band at the 33rd and 36th Golden Melody Awards in 2022 and 2025.

To date, the band has released four records and two singles, including the EP “Escape the Lock of Time” (2017), the album “Broken Youth of the 21st Century” (2019), the EP “No Mercy” (2021), and the album “Pirate Ship to Heaven” (2024).
In 2021, as part of the tribute project “Rock Records 40: Bands Cover the Classics,” they reinterpreted Karen Mok’s song “Overcast.” In 2024, they released the full version of their single “The Matchstick-Selling Drunkard.”

The music of No–nononsense Collective seems distilled from cigarette tar, the raw scent of forests, and the exhaust of urban life. Within a social environment that is far from pleasant, their songs capture both the impulse to indulge in reality and the desire to break free from the restraints of civilization.

Their sound is rooted in blues rock, blending elements of punk, folk, reggae, and gritty garage textures, with hints of indie pop. Through dramatic rises and falls, their music often employs metaphor and poetic imagery to guide listeners into darker emotional territories.
At their live shows, it’s common to see audiences moshing wildly while shedding bittersweet tears.

No–nononsense Collective is a band deeply devoted to live performance. Shortly after forming, they were invited to perform in Japan at No Limit Tokyo Jichiku and The Next Big Thing hosted by StreetVoice. They also independently organized the show “Trouble in the City of Sorrow.”

Since then, the band has performed at numerous festivals including Megaport Festival, Wake Up Festival, Beastie Rock Festival, Ronin Festival, Taiwan Music Festival, Floating Festival, Rock in Taichung, Iron Rose Festival, Drifters Forest Festival, as well as many campus and commercial events.
