JhenYueTang was founded in 2020, bases its works on Taiwanese folk beliefs, combining the clamorous Beiguan style and rap rhythms with rock and electronic music, where the lyrics are incantations sung in Taiwanese. The five members wear facial makeup symbolizing deities, complete with skirts bearing dragons and tigers on the stage, where they set up altar and spread ritualistic sounds. This drastic reimagination of traditional culture shapes the unprecedented style of the band.
JhenYueTang has released two albums, 拜拜呦(“Worship Now!”) and 眾神出巡(“Royal Progress of the Gods”). In 2024, the band made its international debut by performing in the Czech Republic at Colours of Ostrava, one of Central Europe’s largest music festivals, where their performance was highly praised and earned an encore on the festival’s main stage. In 2025, they were invited to Japan’s largest outdoor music festival, Fuji Rock Festival, delivering Taiwan’s powerful sound to the world through their music.
