Blackwolf Nagashi of Human Catepillar

“Nakashi” refers to live singing accompanied by backing tracks.
Black Wolf Nakashi is one of the main live performance formats of Huang Da-Wang (Black Wolf).

In this project, the atmosphere of a silver-haired karaoke social gathering is brought straight onto the stage of a music festival. Huang performs along with a wide variety of backing tracks he prepares himself—MIDI arrangements, karaoke tracks, instrumental pieces, easy-listening melodies, heavy metal, shopping-mall background music, field recordings, clips from TV and radio programs, cabaret shows, political talk shows, and even TV shopping channels.

When the energy reaches its peak, he often invites the audience to join in the singing, sometimes even walking through the crowd for a full lap around the venue.

Later, with the strong support of jazz saxophonist Ming-Yen Hsieh and the sharp-witted jazz housewife Iceland Saburo, the project moved one step closer to what in Taiwanese traditional rituals is known as “Xisomi.”
Top musicians from across Taiwan were gathered to form a large ensemble, aiming to turn the entire stage—and the audience—into a massive explosion of absurd jokes and ironic, artsy chaos within a single show.
