馬尾 ft. 立長

Ponytail (馬尾) was formed in 2023 by Da-Wei, vocalist of Youth David, and Meng-Hsuan, known for her work with Sleep After Story, Talented Co., and Niujiaokeng.

At first, the two simply shared music they loved with each other—whenever one of them discovered something beautiful, they would pass it along. As the exchanges grew more frequent, they began sharing their own songwriting and eventually started improvising together at Meng-Hsuan’s home on a hillside.

In many ways, the story of Ponytail began there.

The name “Ponytail” evokes nostalgia for childhood and curiosity about the future. To them, music is about inclusion, sharing, and understanding—an open space capable of embracing everything in the world. Through music, we run through both darkness and light, and it is fate that ties us together. Music forever.

Li-Chang, vocalist and acoustic guitarist of the band Old Wang, happened to visit Meng-Hsuan’s hillside home after his band recently went on hiatus. Still deeply in love with music, he witnessed the recording of Ponytail’s debut album “Mystery.”

During a visit to the studio, he vividly remembers hearing Da-Wei’s piercing voice and the vitality of the band recording live together. At that moment, he quietly thought that performing with them someday would surely be something joyful.

Da-Wei once said:
When folk music is no longer confined to a single guitar, what other forms might it take?

The band has many ideas about what their live performances might become. Yet as this introduction is being written, they have not even begun rehearsing.
