
the band apart was formed in 1998 by Kouichi Kawasaki (Gt), Masakazu Hara (Ba), Takeshi Arai
(Vo/Gt), and Eiichi Kogure (Dr), who first met while attending the same high school.
In 2004, the band launched their own independent label, Asian Gothic Label, and has since
released nine full-length albums.
In 2007, the band embarked on a U.S. Midwest tour with their longtime friends Mock Orange
from Indiana, including a sold-out show in Chicago. Between 2009 and 2012, they continued to
expand their international presence with tours in France and Taiwan.
During their 2015 Asia tour, the band performed in Bangkok, Thailand, and Kaohsiung, Taiwan
for the first time. They also marked their return to international stages with overseas
performances eight years after their previous appearance in Thailand in 2018.
the band apart’s music is defined by its fearless fusion of diverse genres, seamlessly blending
elements of rock, punk, jazz fusion, soul, and disco. Each song unfolds with shifting textures
and grooves, revealing new colors in every phrase and creating a sound that is both intricate
and unmistakably their own.
