PUMPKINney Fan Club
Formed in late summer 2009, PUMPKINney Fan Club quickly rose to prominence by winning four major awards at Golden Melody Cup (金旋獎), the most influential music competition for universities in Taiwan: 2nd Place in the Creative Band category, Most Popular Band, Best Guitarist, and Best Bassist.
In 2012, StreetVoice(街聲), Taiwan’s largest music platform, named them one of the Top 10 New Bands of the Year. Since then, they have been a staple at major music festivals. In 2014, they independently completed a 10-school campus tour, followed by their first spring tour “銀河派對” in 2015, which spanned six cities including Hong Kong, Hangzhou, Shenzhen, Taipei, Taichung, and Kaohsiung. They have also been frequent guests at the Simple Life Festival in Taipei, Taichung, and Shanghai.
Having released three EPs—”微光,” “果陀,” and “海王星,”—the band is heavily influenced by Britpop, psychedelic rock, and electronica. They are known for their lush, psychedelic soundscapes and introspective performance style. Their music shifts between dizzying descents and gentle introspection, harboring a glimmer of hope within incurable sadness. As lead singer Chia-yen Ko puts it: “It is okay for youth to be lost, and for loneliness to temporarily find no exit. You can be alone and helpless, but you must never give up a small spark of hope.”
In 2018, marking nine years since their formation, the band released their first full-length album, “他我Alter Ego”. Showcasing their refined artistry, they blended synthesizers with 80s retro tones and harmonies to create a powerful emotional resonance. The album was met with critical acclaim, earning nominations for Best Rock Album at the Golden Indie Music Awards and Best Band at the Golden Melody Awards.
