We are an island reggae band from Hengchun, the southernmost tip of Taiwan. Our members come from Amis and Paiwan indigenous communities as well as urban backgrounds, blending tribal memory, Hengchun folk melodies, electronic rhythms, and bass into a distinctive off‑beat sound rooted in the Austronesian south.
Our songs grow from everyday life: the “Chill High High” burrito shop by the old city walls, late‑night stories at DuoJiu BBQ bar near the gates, wandering through the Hengchun night market, the soft southern breeze in the afternoon, and laughter drifting through warm tropical nights. We sing about the sweetness and bitterness of living, using melodies to document encounters, changes, and connections on this island we share. In our music, indigenous chants converse with synthesizers, horns dance with basslines, and percussion guides the body back into rhythm.
YaMon’s music is a release, a form of healing, and a reflection of everyday life in its most honest and free state. Standing on this island, we believe that your laughter and ours hold the same value. We invite you to sway with us, to laugh openly, or to be moved to tears.
“YaMon” is also a way of living: whether life feels crowded or chaotic, through music we find a balance that feels just right.
